A Synology NAS is the storage in the house: documents for the whole team, backups of every computer, recordings from the surveillance cameras, photos and music for the family. Synology NAS as a file server for SMEs
For small and medium-sized businesses a Synology NAS replaces the server in the cupboard: shares for departments, user permissions, versioning, remote access and integration with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Administration runs in the browser, no specialist knowledge required.
We choose the enclosure and hard drives to match your data volume and growth, set up shares and permissions to mirror your organisation and connect the NAS to your network – ideally with UniFi if we plan the network at the same time. Your team then works as before, just with one place for all the data.
Backups that actually run
The best backup is one nobody has to trigger. With Synology we back up workstations, laptops and servers automatically to the NAS, and the NAS itself, encrypted, to a second device or a cloud storage of your choice. Snapshots protect against ransomware because earlier states can be restored.
We plan the concept around the question of how much data loss you can tolerate, set up schedules and checks and test the restore with you. Anyone who has seen that once sleeps better.
Surveillance Station and media at home
With Surveillance Station the Synology NAS becomes a recorder for IP cameras from various manufacturers. Recordings stay in the house, motion alerts go to your phone, and you decide how long footage is kept. For businesses with existing cameras this is often the simplest route to orderly recording.

Does a Synology NAS you set up replace our server?
For file storage, backup and media, yes. Specialist applications with their own database still need a server or a cloud solution. We look at what you are running and tell you what the NAS can take over.
Can you have our existing cameras record to a Synology NAS?
Usually, yes. Surveillance Station supports IP cameras from many manufacturers. We check the models, set up recording and define retention and access rights with you. On request we add cameras that fit the system.
Do you support the NAS after setup?
Yes. We monitor drives and backups remotely, install updates and get in touch before a drive fails. For businesses in the Mittelland region that is part of the service contract; for private households there is support on call.
