Content for screens
Three free signage apps: Weather, News and a word puzzle for your screens
A screen needs content that is fresh every day. We have built three apps that deliver exactly that and we are making them available to you for free: weather with a video background, news from Switzerland and a puzzle for the waiting time. With instructions.

Most digital signage screens do not fail because of the technology. They fail because the content dries up. After a few weeks the same three slides are still running and nobody looks any more. So we built three displays that update themselves and run on any player that can show a web page in full screen. You can use them freely on your screens, with no installation and at no cost.
Weather: the content everyone looks at
The Weather app shows the current weather, the next few hours and the days ahead for a location of your choice. A video runs in the background to match the conditions: sun, clouds, rain, snow. Each screen can show its own location, so the branch in Bern shows the weather in Bern. The data comes from Open-Meteo and the videos from Mixkit; both may be used commercially.

News: headlines from Switzerland and your region
The News app brings together public feeds from Swiss publishers and shows only stories with a picture, with no duplicates and nothing older than three days. You choose whether to run national stories only or mix them with Zurich, Bern, Basel, Aargau, Solothurn, Central Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden or Romandy. Every story names its source.

Words: a puzzle for the waiting time
Not every piece of content has to inform. In the word puzzle the letters of a word fly in jumbled up, a bar counts down the time, and then they sort themselves into the answer. Around 280 words from sport, fitness, life, leisure and advertising, with nothing to operate and no sound. You set the duration to match the time slot on your player, and the run fits exactly.

How to get the apps onto your screen
1. Open the app in your browser, click the logo or press the S key. 2. Choose a location, regions or categories. 3. Copy the "Link for the screen". 4. In your signage CMS, create a web content item, paste the link and set it to full screen.
The apps detect portrait and landscape on their own. With the logo parameter you can add your own logo. The full list of link parameters is on each app page.
Will it run on my player?
Yes, if it can show a web page in full screen. That includes Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, BrightSign, Windows and Android players, and of course our own signage software. The player needs an internet connection; the Words app gets by almost without one, only the font is loaded.
And if you want more
The apps are free as they are. If you would like them in your own design, with your company news between the headlines, with your own words or with guaranteed operation, we will build that for you. These are exactly the kinds of displays we develop for our customers, from reception to the production floor.
Conclusion
Three apps that give your screens fresh content every day: weather to look at, news to read and a puzzle to join in with. Setting them up takes five minutes and costs nothing. Try them out and tell us what you would like next.
