KNX is not a manufacturer but an open standard that hundreds of companies have agreed on: switches from Gira or Feller, actuators from ABB or MDT, weather stations, heating controllers – everything speaks the same language on the same bus. That makes KNX the choice when a house should run for thirty years and stay expandable. We plan KNX for family homes and flats, choose the components by function and looks, parametrise the system and build a visualisation that will still make sense in ten years.
Open standard, free choice
With KNX you are not buying a closed system. If one manufacturer discontinues a product, another one takes its place. We make use of that: we choose switches and push-button sensors with you by design and feel, actuators by reliability and price, and the logic lives in devices we know. The result is a system that suits your house and not a catalogue.
What we do not do: we do not claim to do all the wiring ourselves. The electrical installation belongs to the electrician; concept, parametrisation and operation are our part.
From plan to finished system
It starts with a function plan: which lights dim, which blinds follow the sun, which rooms need presence detectors, where switches sit and what they do. We agree that plan with your electrical planner or electrician; they install bus cable and actuators, we parametrise the devices in ETS, test every function and set up the visualisation on wall panel and phone. Before you move in we walk through the house with you and change whatever does not fit – for instance, that the blinds in the children's room only go up at seven in the morning.
KNX with music, picture and security
A KNX house can be linked to whatever else we install: Sonos or a multiroom system that starts from a push-button sensor, the home cinema that switches lighting and screen with one scene, the door intercom that rings on the panel, the alarm system that arms when you are away. We also integrate inverter, wallbox and heat pump so that you see yield and consumption on one screen. After that we remain your contact: changes, extensions and help when something stops responding – on site in Solothurn, Bern and surroundings, otherwise remotely.

Questions about KNX.
Is KNX worth it for a family home too?
If you are building new or renewing the electrical installation anyway, yes. KNX needs more planning at the start, but the system then runs for decades and can be expanded with components from many manufacturers. For retrofits without building work we usually recommend wireless solutions or Loxone Air.
Can you take over an existing KNX system?
In most cases, yes. We read out the existing programming if the project file is available, and document the system afresh if not. Then we change or extend whatever you need without everything having to be set up from scratch.
Does KNX work without internet and without an app?
Yes. The logic runs on the bus in the house; switches and automation work without a network. App, voice control and remote access are additions we set up if you want them, and an internet outage does not affect the lights.
